Where Must You Stop When Pulling Out of a Driveway in Ohio?

According to the Ohio Driver Manual, a driver emerging from an alley, driveway or private road in a business or residential district must stop at the sidewalk. Where there is no sidewalk, you stop before entering the roadway.

The reason is the people walking past. The same rule says you must yield the right-of-way to any pedestrian on the sidewalk, so stopping at the street edge, after you have already rolled across the walkway, is too late.

On the test, the wrong answers usually put you at the curb line or the center of the road. Remember the order: sidewalk first, then the roadway.
