When Can You Return to Your Lane After Passing in Ohio?
While passing, when may you return to your original lane?
Short answer: When you can see both headlights of the car you passed in your rear-view mirror.
Why
The Ohio Driver Manual walks through a pass step by step. Once you are alongside, keep going until both headlights of the passed vehicle are visible in your rear-view mirror. Then signal and steer smoothly back into the lane.
Seeing both headlights tells you there is room in front of that car. If a test answer mentions a set number of car lengths or the moment you clear its front bumper, it is not the manual's rule.
